A handsome woody climber that has the unique botanical ability to form blooms directly from old woody stems, a term called "cauliflorous." The 4" trumpet-shaped flowers are bicolored, rose-red fading to creamy white tips, which form in large umbels during late winter and spring. Flowering begins once the vine forms a rough bark, then blooms emerge from the same stem year after year.
New Guinea trumpet vine does well in full sun or partial shade. This South Pacific native flowers best when kept well-watered, which mimics the rainy season of its homeland. It will need a sturdy support as it matures and grows heavier.
